Is Your Church Using Twitter?

In our last newsletter, I asked you, our readers and Facebook fans, about your thoughts in Twittering during a church service.

What really prompted me to find out if you twitter or encourage twittering during a church service is this article in Time.com that I came across with several weeks ago.

Churches Go Mobile with the New Iphone Release

The new 3GS Iphone has better graphics, faster internet connection, and mobile video streaming is now possible! With the latest release of Iphone 3GS, more and more churches are going mobile.

Mars Hill, a tech-savvy church based in Seattle, WA, has its own application that is available as free download from Itunes. It lets you listen to Mark Driscoll’s sermons, watch videos, and stream Mars Hill music amongst other things; while Honolulu-Based New Hope Christian Fellowship and Northland Church have a mobile version of their media section that lets you stream video of their live services.

Tips for Driving Traffic to Your Church Website Part 2

2. Engage in Social Media.

In this day and age, everybody and their mothers are getting involved in social media...whether it's Joanna the cashier at a mom and pop store in the corner, or Michael, a public relations professional at a big advertising agency in New York.

Social media is a platform that bridged the gap and made communication possible amongst individuals no matter what your social status in life is.

What is Social Media? Wikipedia defines social media as: online content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. Social media is a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information and content; it's a fusion of sociology and technology, transforming monologues (one to many) into dialogues (many to many) and is the democratization of information, transforming people from content readers into publishers. Social media has become extremely popular because it allows people to connect in the online world to form relationships for personal, political and business use. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM).
